Who We Are

Hearts of Green Organization was Founded in 2012 by like-minded individuals who are passionate about championing environmental conservation, food security and climate change action. We are an NGO registered in Kenya whose aim to conserve the environment through meaningfully engaging students in primary schools, secondary schools and institutions of higher learning. We believe in inculcating the culture of environmentalism in the young generations by teaching them the virtues of conserving the environment through the ‘Adopt A Tree’ model so that in future, they will grow to be global ambassadors of environment conservation.

To date, the organization has plated over 2 Million trees in schools, forests and other public spaces around Kenya. Hearts of Green has been and continues to mobilize and sensitize the public that environmental degradation, deforestation, and food insecurity are deeper issues of disempowerment, disenfranchisement, and a loss of the traditional values that have previously enabled communities to protect their environment, work together for mutual benefit, and meet their human development needs both selflessly and honestly.

Collaborating with other stakeholders, we continue to March on in the journey to restore our ecosystems, combat climate change and improve community livelihoods.

Our Thematic Pillars

Hearts of Green has adopted an integrated three pronged approach to its conservation work. These priority thematic pillars are interlinked to ensure inclusivity, innovation and effectiveness towards sustainable management of the environment.

Tree Growing Initiatives

Through our Adopt a Tree, Adopt an Institution and Adopt a Forest Model, we are at the fore front in mitigating the climate crisis. Currently we have planted over 1.5 Million trees in schools, public institutions and gazetted forests. We plan to plant 50 Million trees by 2030

Climate Advocacy

We empower communities in Africa to be more resilient against climate change impacts through capacity building and promotion of nature-based solutions, climate-smart agriculture and landscape restoration. These include the most vulnerable members such as rural women, children and youth. We also engage leaders in global and national climate.

Green Tech. Net-zero By 2050

By investing in Eco friendly technology such as improved cookstoves, low emission technologies eg Biogas and zero emision technologies such as solar, we will contribute to realization of Net Zero ambitions

Our Interventions

Sustainable Development must incorporate three main pillars these include social development, environmental management and economic development. These pillars are enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs) that’s provide a roadmap for sustainable development.

OUR APPROACH

Hearts of Green employs an innovative model of “Adopt A Tree” to empower the young generation in learning institutions in Kenya. (Primary School, Secondary school and public institutions of higher learning) This model involves changing attitudes perceptions and behavior towards environmental conservation and empowers them to actively take responsibility in conserving their environment. It also enables them to grow as accountable, hardworking and proud of their environment.
